To all the wanderers in the universe that might pass this way, wonder unto what mysteries unfold in a world so beautiful so as to create a life like Heng Seng, my god-niece, who could and should be no different than as she actually is.....

My dearest Anna (Heng Er), this is Suzanne (Heng Pian). I have a brother who was diagnosed as "mentally retarded" many years ago (we're both in our 40s now). My parents were told he'd struggle his whole life, blah, blah, blah. Well, it has been a bit of a struggle but here's some of what he has accomplished. High School grad, some collge level courses, self-employed small engine repair business, married (and divorced!), one child who is now 16, a wide circle of friends in his community, self-sufficient (he lives alone), drives and maintains his own car, and much more! One thing I think helped is that we never treated him like he had a disability. My mother especially never thought his condition should hold him back or prevent him from taking advantage of opportunities that came along. He is an absolute hoot, and I am proud to be a part of the same gene pool. You keep on loving Luigia. She'll be fine, and probably go farther than any of us could ever imagine. Sending you love and qi. Heng Pian (Suzanne)
What a cutie! Please give Seng a bunch of hugs and a few hair tugs (so she knows it's from me)!

Hello,
I am Luigia's God Mother. I got the call from her father the day she
was born. I was not in the state and so could not be there for her
birth.
Her father's voice cracked when he explained that she was healthy but
had downs, and then I lost the phone signal. I tried for several days to
get back in touch but to no avail. I was left with my thoughts and
the fact that this little girl who I love already had a difficult time
a head of her.
When I met her in her little bouncy chair, it became clear that she is
touched by the things that make fairy tales come true. My heart is
filled with love, and the difficult times maybe more about my bias
than anything that have to do with THE LU.
Heng Seng,
You are with me always, and I am with you
Yu
Everyone has their own path. And Seng is easily one of the happier kids I have seen....Amitoufo. Jian
